With this series, Dedering underlines, among other things, how important queer people are for a colorful and diverse art scene and for society as a whole. The photographer is thus taking a stand against the increasingly strong right-wing extremist tendencies in large parts of society. For it is not queerness that stands between us and threatens us, but the intolerance towards diversity shown in word and deed. Dedering sets his often very personal portraits against this 'stigma of the stranger' and creates an extensive series about queer artists based in Berlin and elsewhere.
